Who says a good Zumba class can’t be more than just a hard sweat? Ask the members at Luna Fitness Club, and they will tell you that Zumba can be a whole lot more. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Luna Fitness held a Zumbathon – part Zumba class, part marathon, and part charity fundraiser – to benefit the Amal Women’s Center, a homeless transitional shelter for women and children based in Dorchester. Luna Fitness members popped in and out of the club with donations over the course of the 3 hour Zumbathon,. The shelter had recently put out the word into the local community that they were in dire need of household goods, such as cleaning supplies, toiletries as well as clothing for some of the children living at the shelter. In all, Luna managed to raise over $500 worth of goods for Amal. “It feels absolutely amazing that the owners of Luna Fitness did this for the Amal Women’s Center,” said Ayesha, the shelter Director. “The owners and members at Luna Fitness went above and beyond. They not only care about the local community, but also understand the importance of giving back. We’re so grateful to Olga and the Luna family!” Ayesha Kazmi / Site Director / Amal Women’s Center, Boston MA
